When I look back at all the decisions I’ve made in my 45 years on this earth, some were momentous and some were minuscule. Some impacted me for years and some for mere minutes. Come to think of it, there are very few life choices you make that don’t have an effect on your nearest and dearest. #familythebigdecisions
This post deals with some of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make as a family.

Making The Right Choice For Your Family: The Big Decisions
Having a family, whether that is just you and your partner, children or just your nearest and dearest can be quite the rollercoaster ride of emotions, wouldn’t you agree?
Life is just something that is never simple and straightforward. There are always things you need to think about, survive from, be strong for or support people with.
And the moments that are relaxing and quiet tend to be the ones that you reflect on, the times that you make plans or think about the future. What I am trying to say is that it is never plain sailing.
However, life can also present you with moments that require you to make the big decisions in life. The ones that perhaps won’t just affect you, but everyone around you and with that comes a little pressure. The pressure to make the right choice, the pressure to know exactly what to do.
I thought it would be a good time to share with you some of the big decisions all families can go through every now and again, and hopefully, it may inspire you to look at things differently or finally prompt you to make those decisions yourself.
Moving house
Moving house has got to be one of the most stressful things that you can do.
On the one hand
On the other hand, buying a house and selling yours if you need to is really stressful. You have the process and paperwork to think about, the exchanging of money and getting deposits together, and all the checks that take place before a sale goes through.
If you end up in some sort of property buying chain it is even worse, so it is definitely a stressful thing to go through. But, it gives you the opportunity to buy the house you want and need to suit your current lifestyle and while it is a big decision to make it is often in the best interests of your children and/or partner.
Starting or adding to your family
Making a decision when it comes to your family is also just as big as moving your family from one place to another.
Whether it is deciding to start a family or add to it there is so much to consider other than just the whole having a baby thing. There is the added pressure on you and your partner, the financial impact, whether you have enough space or need a new car. General things that people often don’t think about when making this big decision, but certainly could have an impact on how you do it.
Changing your career
Changing your career is another big decision to make for your future. It can come at a time where you feel completely dissatisfied with the way things are going.
Perhaps you don’t enjoy your job anymore or you just don’t feel the same level of passion or ambition for it. Changing your career can be daunting, especially if it is something that you have never done before. But it can also give you a new lease of life and open up more possibilities and earning potential than ever before. It is a big decision to make, as it can cause big upheaval for the family in that transition period, but it could really be worth it.
Saving for holidays and life luxuries
Savings can be a really sore subject within the family, especially if every penny is accounted for and you don’t know what you need to pay out for in the coming months ahead.
People really do what they can to save and it can be a big decision to decide on what you are saving for.
It might also cause you to make decisions on how best you utilise your spare time, such as taking on extra side hustles or selling unwanted items on platforms like eBay.
However, it is these holidays and those life luxuries you have that make everything else worthwhile and motivates you to continue to work and do the things to make it happen.
Relocating or staying put
One big decision that you may need to make at some point in your life is to decide on a relocating opportunity. This may have come up due to a position at work, where you have the chance to do something in a different country.
Or you may make the decision as a family so that you can get a better quality of life or a change of lifestyle for health reasons.
Relocating is a scary prospect, and it sometimes involves difficult decisions as you make the choice to leave others behind. But it could also present you with new opportunities so it is definitely worth weighing up the pros and cons before making this life-changing decision as a family.
Choosing the right educational path
Sometimes we don’t know what path is best. We think we make the right decisions and when it comes to our education I feel we are perhaps a little too young to really know what we want to do with our lives.
Education doesn’t stop when you leave school, and we are in the fortunate position to learn from home and go back to education at any point. It could become a big decision as it can help you decide on other factors like a change of career.
Remembering to make the memories
Finally, thought out all of the life-changing moments, the big decisions we have to face, the good ones and the not so good ones, we must always remember to make memories. These are the things that you will look back on in years to come.
I hope that this has made you feel more at ease that everyone has some big life-changing decisions to make at some stage of their lives.
Are you making any big family decisions at the moment? How will they impact your family?
