Does your child have a dedicated playroom? Or do they play in their bedroom? And your lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom? My four-year-old definitely seems to think every room is his playroom.  Come to think of it, the entire world is his playground at this age.

We don’t have a bedroom, let alone a playroom for our son yet, but all that’s about to change – when we renovate.  Looking forward to having fun reading articles just like this contributed post I just received.  If you’re creating a playroom in the near future, here are some great ideas for you…

Child’s Play: Transforming A Space Into The Perfect Playroom

Playrooms are a seriously good idea for families that have young children. This is for many reasons, one being that they can enjoy themselves and get all of their toys out in one go without it messing up the rest of the house.

Another reason that they are such a good idea is that you can customize the theme of the room to what you kids want. Something that means pirate ships, princess castles, and desert island are all possible with a little imagination.

Luckily, if you’d like to create this sort of space for your children to play in it’s not too hard either. Just keep reading to find out what you need to do.

The Theme

The most important thing to do when you are creating a playroom for your kids is the theme that they will have. This is also the bit where you get to have the most fun as well because you can really go crazy in including some wonderful art and creative touches.

Painting animals on the wall can work well for a jungle theme.

A jungle theme is one that can work particularly well for boys and girls sharing a space, and you can get artistic by painting leaves and tree on the walls. You can even get decals that will save you the job of hand painting giraffes and zebras!

Alternatively, a pirate theme is another fantastic theme to consider. It’s pretty easy to do as well because you can paint the walls blue for the ocean, with some yellow along the bottom of sand, you can even install a ship into the corner of the room like the one you will find in this article. Then you can go crazy with additional details like treasure chests and even rope climbing frames to give it that truly authentic ship-like feel. Although do remember that any props or structural elements will need to be child safe in this sort of room.

The Plan

Once you have the theme sorted you will need to work out how to transform the normal space into a fun play area. To do this, you will need a plan outlining each step, as well as a list of resources you will need like paint brushes and rollers, masking tape, foam matting, and any decorative accessories.

Of course, such things cost money, and it can be particularly difficult if the kids have their heart set on items that are a little out of your price range. Luckily, you do have options if your budget is getting a little stretched such as checking out what personal loan companies can offer you in the way of borrowing or increase your overdraft to cover the cost. After all, you can pay it off again as soon as you have the funds available and it will be worth it to create the perfect playroom for the little ones.

The Execution

The final stage is about decorating the playroom in line with your plan. The brave among you may choose to involve the kids in this activity. Although, if you do make sure that you get them to wear old clothes and brief them about how to behave safely.

In fact, it may be better for the adults to do the majority of the work and then let the little ones help with the finishing touches. Including things such as painting their favourite characters or animals on the wall.

Have you used your own creativity to create an amazing playroom? Feel free to send me pictures and I’ll add them to this post.
