One of the best things about this method is that it takes no experience or skill and all that you need to do is choose the furniture that you want, and then decide how you are going to arrange it in your room or rooms.

There are many different styles of furniture that you can choose from, and the only real limitation is the amount of money that you have to spend. Investing in quality furniture will help you to transform your home, and will also ensure that your home is comfortable with somewhere to relax.

Replacing The Flooring In Your Home

You can also choose to replace the flooring in your home which will help you to transform your house and give it a new lease of life. You can decide to install wooden floors that will give your home a touch of class, as well as also being easy to clean and hygienic. If wooden floors are not your thing, then you can replace the carpets in your house and still achieve the same effect.

Oh yes, we installed wooden floors in our bedrooms a few years back and we’re finding it infinitely better than having carpets, definitely easier to clean, shows up less dirt and looks neater too.

The most popular method to transform a home is decorating. Decorating is something that you can do cheaply, and it is not hard to do so will be able to do this yourself.

  • You can choose to add pictures to your home which will help to transform the bare walls and make the place look more lived in.
  • You can decide to hang artwork on your walls, or you could even decide to hang pictures of your loved ones on the walls.
  • You can also use mirrors and hang these on the walls. A significant benefit of this is that the mirrors will create the illusion that the room is bigger than it is.

A Lick Of Paint On The Walls

Give your walls a new lease of life either by painting or using wallpaper. If you have the budget and are in no time at all, you can use the services of a professional painter.

I totally agree!  We painted our bedrooms (sky blue) and added white security shutters at the same time as we installed wooden floors and the effect was transformational.  Oh… and we also added a lovely white mosquito net in the main bedroom giving it a dreamy look.

With the tips above, you can make your house the envy of the street.

This is a very interesting post to me and it just came when I was thinking about changing my house a little bit. I like the way you have explained each point here and to me it seems that you suggest changing of the lighting, floor, wallpaper, furniture, etc. I need to change my bedding and that includes the bed itself.

Apart from that, my house is new together with the other furniture but I don’t like the way it looks. I was wondering if you have any tips on reorganizing my house to have a new look with the same floor, furniture, lighting, etc. I hope you understand what I mean.

You have outlined a number of great tips to give your home a facelift without breaking the bank and doing a complete renovation.  My place is looking pretty grim these days.  I think I’ll do some lighting adjustments, get a few pieces of furniture, change the color of my walls and do something with the floors – maybe a rug.

Your post has given me some motivation to take action.  Thanks.

    I love wallpaper Lauren!

All these while I’ve been painting my walls but after a while, I wanted a fresh new look for my room and I started researching on Wallpapers. I have no idea how they work but I thought it wouldn’t be that hard so I started sticking some on my walls and for a few weeks, they looked amazing!

But after a while, the wallpaper started shriveling. Was there something I did wrong? Like maybe I used the wrong type of glue :/

Ooh, good question Riaz.  Are your walls getting a lot of sun?  Alternatively, it could be the type of wallpaper you used.  It’s best to try find shrink resistant material like Fabric or Canvas rather than Vinyl.  There are some great answers on Quora.

Great tips.  When I had a home I painted the internal walls a different colour every couple of years.  I kept to pastels so that the curtains didn’t need replacing at the same time.  Made a huge difference and always looked fresh.

I moved the furniture around every so often as well.  This always creates a different look and costs nothing. I like the idea of adding pictures to the walls.  Changing these regularly from room to room would also add a different look to each room from time to time.

What a great post.  Thank you for sharing

These are great ideas! My house is very old but when I think of the cost of renovating, I keep delaying it because it’s just so expensive. These are great ideas for a face lift without doing any structural work. I might try some of them. It will be like having a new place without the hassle of moving!
